Keynote Address

David Wertime

David Wertime is a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow, where he is Senior Advisor at the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of International Financial Markets. Previously, David spent the past decade as an editor and media executive, launching China news services at Foreign Policy magazine, Politico, and tech site Protocol. David has also built a social-media focused startup, Tea Leaf Nation, which was acquired by the Washington Post Company. A graduate of Harvard Law School, David practiced securities law for several years prior to entering media, first at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and then at Milbank, Tweed Hadley & McCloy in Hong Kong. He also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in China. A graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School, David lives in Washington, DC with his wife Diane and rescue puppy Luna. He enjoys distance running and reading in his spare time. The opinions expressed at this keynote will be David’s personal views and do not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. Treasury Department or the U.S. government.
